I Know the Score – Week 7

September 25, 2009

Last Week; 90 points.
Total: 510 points.

No matches involving big rivals or the big four (or even five or six) but there is a London derby.

Arsenal travel across London to face Fulham, I expect the Gunners to win easily as they’re getting Arshavin and Walcott back. Liverpool should have another easy game at Anfiled against Hull City who will have trouble avoiding relegation this season. Man Utd travel to play newly promoted Stoke City so the Red Devils should also win easily. Chelsea also travel this weekend, the Blues play Wigan who have earned just six points so far this season. I expect Chelsea to win as well.

Check back next week to see how I did.

I Know the Score – Week 6 Result

September 22, 2009

Week: 90 points.
Total: 510 points.

After just 65 points last week I’m back to a respectable 90 points this week.

My big point earner of the week was the Aston Villa 3-1 Portsmouth match, I correctly predicted the goal difference and it was my Banker pick which in this case tripled the normal 15 points to 45 points.

Whew, that was close! Michael Owens’ last minute goal for Man Utd against their rival Man City garnered me 15 points. If the match had ended in a draw then I would have lost 10 points.

Check back Friday for my latest I Know the Score predictions.

I Know the Score – Week 6

September 18, 2009

Last Week: 65 points.
Total: 420 points.

Manchester derby and London derby this weekend and each match will have a victor.

Manchester United will prevail over Manchester City who are without several strikers. Down in London Chelsea will win over Totenham Hotspurs but Liverpool will struggle in London and draw with West Ham while Arsenal will get back to winning against Wigan.

I Know the Score – Week 5 Result

September 15, 2009

Week: 65 points.
Total: 420 points.

Not my best week but I’ll take it.

After several weeks of earning over 100 points this week I managed to get just 65 points. The only correct result that I got this week was the Spurs 1-3 Man Utd. match and I didn’t double it so those 30 points were the most for a single game this week.

Check back Friday for my Week 6 picks.

I Know the Score – Week 5

September 11, 2009

Last Week: 105 points.
Total: 355 points.

The Premier League is back this weekend after last weekend’s international break.

I’m picking Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Wigan, Man Utd., and Aston Villa to win. Hmm, six matches out of ten with an out-right winner, that might be a bit much but we’ll see. Of those ‘winners’ the least likely to win is Arsenal who travel to face Manchester City. What can I say? I like Arsenal but they have also played well this season.

I Know the Score – Week 4 Result

September 1, 2009

Week 4: 105 points.
Total: 355 points.

Another 105 points! And I didn’t think that I would do well this week.

I could of had another 40 points but Everton decided to get a late goal for the winner thus ruining my prediction of a 1-1 draw. As it was Chelsea’s 3-0 win over Burnley was my big point earner of the week, I picked the score correctly and doubled it for 60 points. I also correctly predicted the Wolves-Hull City draw.

There are no games this weekend so check back next week for my predictions.

I Know the Score – Week 4

August 28, 2009

I’m picking four draws which seems a bit high. And I am picking Arsenal to win at Old Trafford which I’m not so sure of, a draw is probably more likely than a win against Manchester United. I think Chelsea will win easy against newly promoted Burnley but Liverpool will struggle against Bolton.

I Know the Score – Week 3 Result

August 25, 2009

Week 3: 105 points.
Total: 250 points.

My best week yet! And I wasn’t confident with these picks.

My biggest point getter this week was correctly picking the Arsenal-Portsmouth match and doubling it for a whopping 6o points. My worse pick was the Liverpool-Aston Villa match. I picked Liverpool to win 2-1 and Villa won 3-1 instead. This was Liverpool’s first loss a Anfield in 32 games. That was bad timing on my part, I guess.

Check back Friday for my Week 4 picks.

I Know the Score – Week 3

August 21, 2009

I don’t feel confident about this week’s picks, maybe it’s because I’m on a downward trend. I only earned 55 points last week after scoring 90 points the first week. Or maybe it’s because I have only two draws in the ten matches. It seems there should be a few more even games than just those two.

Any way here are the highlights of my picks, Arsenal will continue to win easy as they face Portsmouth at Ashburton Grove. Manchester Utd will continue to struggle and be drawn by Wigan. Chelsea will suffer their first loss against London rival Fulham. In the other London derby Tottenham will continue to win by defeating West Ham. At Anfield Liverpool are too strong to pick against them, even against a strong side like Aston Villa.

I Know the Score – Week 2 Result

August 20, 2009

Week 2: 55 points.
Total: 145 points.

After a 90 point first week I had a bit of a drop off with just 55 points in Week 2. The only two matches that I lost points on were Wigan v Wolves and Burnley Man Utd. Wolves won with just a single goal scored in the game and I predicted a 2-2 draw. I thought Burnley would put up a good fight against Man Utd but who predicted they would actually win? Not me, that’s for sure. The only match that I predicted correctly was Birmingham’s win over Pompey.

Check back tomorrow for my Week 3 predictions.
