Aston Villa 1 – 1 Tottenham

Here’s something you don’t see often:

With the game scoreless, Juan Pablo Angel missed an penalty kick for Aston Villa. I mean really missed it, it was several feet wide of the top right corner. Now that’s not very unusual, but just several minutes later he scored an own goal for the Spurs in the 76^th minute. It was off of a corner kick, short of the near post. No Spur player was near it and the Villa goal keeper was stepping up to make the easy catch, however for some reason Angel ran in to head the ball out of touch but it went in his goal instead. He must have felt awful.

All was not lost. The penalty kick was the result of a red card on the Spurs so they were playing a man down and Gareth Barry got the equalizer for Villa in the 81^st minute.
