Steven Davis (69’) netted the only goal of the match to give Villa the three points.

Arsenal (26-T) 3-0 Blackburn (18)
The Gunners scored early and often and got a clean sheet on their way to beating Blackburn. Scoring for Arsenal: Francesc Fabregas (4’), Thierry Henry (45’) and Robin Van Persie (90’).

Manchester City (21) 0-1 Liverpool (22)
John Arne Riise (61’) netted the only goal of the match to give Liverpool the three points.

Sunderland (5-R) 0-1 Birmingham (9-R)
Julian Gray (68’) netted the only goal of the match to give Birmingham the three points.

Wigan (25-T) 1-2 Tottenham (24-T)
Robbie Keane (8’) and Edgar Davids (77’) netted goals for the Spurs and Lee McCulloch (88’) got a late goal for Wigan to avoid a shutout.

Portsmouth (10-R) 0-2 Chelsea (37-T)
Hernan Crespo (27’) and Frank Lampard (pk 67’) got goals for Chelsea in their shutout of Portsmouth.

Joseph Yobo (46’) scored the only goal of the match to earn the win for Everton. Note: Alan Shearer played for the Magpies but Michael Owen did not. The win lifts Everton out of the relegation zone.

Fulham (15) 2-1 Bolton (23)
American Brian McBride (4’, 18’) had a brace in the first half to give the three points to the Cottagers. Sylvain Legwinski (og 90’) had a late own goal for Bolton’s lone goal of the day.

Middlesbrough (19) 2-2 West Brom. Albion (12)
Each side scored a goal in each half for a draw. Scoring for Boro: Mark Viduka (12’) Aiyegbeni Yakubu (pk 66’), scoring for West Brom: Nathan Ellington (18’) and Nwankwo Kanu (57’).

West Ham (19) 1-2 Manchester United (27-T)
Marlon Harewood (2’) scored early for the Hammers, but Wayne Rooney (47’) and John O’Shea (56’) netted second half goals to secure the win for Man Utd.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.usGeorge Best (pictured) passed away Friday morning. He is considered one of the best players ever – right up there with Pele and Maradona. He played for Manchester United and Northern Ireland in the 1960s and in the 1970s for a few NASL teams in the States. He was only 59 and died of complications from years of alcoholism. All EPL matches will observe a minute of silence in his honor this weekend.

Saturday Nov. 26, 2005 (all times ET)

Aston Villa (12) v Charlton (19), 10:00 AM
Villa are coming off a win over lowly Sunderland. Charlton have lost three straight and have earned just 4 points in their last 6 matches.

Arsenal (23-T) v Blackburn (18), 10:00 AM
The Gunners won at Wigan last week and have not lost in their last 4 matches (3-1-0). The Rovers are coming off a draw at Man City and are 1-1-1 in their last three games.

Manchester City (21) v Liverpool (19), 10:00 AM
City are coming off a draw at home versus Blackburn and are 1-1-1 in their last three games. Liverpool have won three straight.

The Black Cats and Birmingham have both lost five straight.

Portsmouth are hovering just out of the relegation zone and have just one win (over Sunderland) in their last six matches. Chelsea sit on top of the table.

Everton won two straight before last week’s 4-0 loss to West Brom. The Magpies won three straight before last week’s 3-0 loss to Chelsea, but they were without Alan Shearer (groin surgery) and Michael Owen (groin strain).

The Cottagers lost last week to Boro and are 2-0-2 in their last four matches. The Wanderers have won three straight.

Middlesbrough (18) v West Brom. Albion (11), 10:00 AM
Boro defeated Fulham last week and are 2-0-2 in their last four matches. West Brom won last week at home against Everton but have just two wins in their last six matches (2-0-4).

West Ham (19) v Manchester United (24-T), 11:00 AM
Last week the Hammers got a last minute goal for a draw against the Spurs and are 2-1-1 in their last four matches. Man Utd have won two straight over Chelsea and Charlton.

Wigan (25) 2-3 Arsenal (23)

Wigan got goals from Henri Camara (28′) and Jimmy Bullard (45′) but it wasn’t enough Arsenal did them one better. Scoring for the Gunners: Robin Van Persie (11′) and Thierry Henry (21′, 41). Henry now has 9 goals in the last five and half games.

Charlton (19) 1-3 Manchester United (24)

Man Utd lead at the break on a goal from Alan Smith (37′), but Darren Ambrose (65′) equalized for Charlton in the second half before a brace from Ruud van Nistelrooy (70′, 85′) got the three points for the Red Devils.


Chelsea (34) 3-0 Newcastle United (18)Chelsea got a clean sheet and goals from Joe Cole (47′), Hernan Crespo (51′) and Damien Duff (90′) for the win. Player Notes: Chelsea – Crespo got a rare start; John Terry and Frank Lampard each got a yellow card. Newcastle – Alan Shearer didn’t play, he’s recovering from surgery. Michael Owen also didn’t play due to a groin strain.

Liverpool (19) 3-0 Portsmouth (10)

Liverpool got a clean sheet and goals from Boudewijn Zenden (23′), Djibril Cisse (39′) and Fernando Morientes (80′) for the win. Peter Crouch, who supposedly has a good touch for a big man, missed a penalty kick for Liverpool and has yet to score this season.

Manchester City (21) 0-0 Blackburn (18)

This was the fourth draw in the last four EPL matches between these two teams and this one was a nil-nil draw.

Sunderland (5-R) 1-3 Aston Villa (12)

Villa got second half goals from Kevin Phillips (55′), Gareth Barry (82′) and Milan Baros (83′). The Black Cats got a very late goal from Dean Whitehead (pk 90′) to avoid a shutout.

West Brom. Albion (11) 4-0 Everton (10-R)

Everton are back to their losing ways. West Brom got goals from Nathan Ellington (pk 45′, 69′), Neil Clement (51′) and Robert Earnshaw (90′) in a shutout over Everton. The win moves West Brom out of the relegation zone and Everton back into the relegation zone.

Sunday Nov. 20, 2005

Tottenham (21) 1-1 West Ham (19)

The Spurs got an early goal from Ahmed Mido (16′) but Anton Ferdinand (90′) got a last minute equalizer to salvage a point for the Hammers.

Middlesbrough (18) 3-2 Fulham (12)

Boro got goals from James Morrison (64′), Aiyegbeni Yakubu (76′) and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink (84′) to prevail over the Cottagers who got goals from Collins John (9′) and Papa Bouba Diop (70′).
