I Know the Score – Week 18 Result

Five points is better than no points – or losing points.

The big four let me down, except for Arsenal. Fulham defeated Man Utd. and Portsmouth beat Liverpool. West Ham managed to hold Chelsea to a draw. The Arsenal result could have been different. Almunia saved a penalty kick that would have made the score 1-1, who knows what may have happened then?

I correctly predicted that Everton-Birmingham would be a draw, I just had the score wrong but it was still worth 20 points to me. I also got the goal differential correct for the Aston Villa-Stoke City match which earned me 15 points.

I have been inconsistent lately, alternating weeks of positive points with weeks of losing points. I’m due for a negative points week but I hope to avoid it.

Last week was one of my worst weeks ever, I hope to earn some points this week rather than lose them.

Eight matches during this mid-week Premier League week. The none of the big four sides play each other so there’s little buzz about this week. Also 3 of the 4 are at home and play teams in the bottom half of the table. Arsenal travel to play newly promoted Burnley.

I Know the Score – Week 16 Result

Total: 725 points

I correctly predicted the early match on Saturday and then got every other match totally wrong!

The Stoke-Wigan match was much better than I thought it would be and I was very happy when a penalty kick was saved in the final minutes to preserve the 2-2 score, which was just as I had predicted. Then I got wrong all the remaining matches of the weekend, but I have no time to dwell on my misery. Week 17 is Tuesday and Wednesday this week.

I had a very good result last week, I think 105 points is my high score for the season.

The big match this week is Liverpool v Arsenal on Sunday. Liverpool are tough at Anfield so I’m predicting a draw. In other ‘big four’ matches, Manchester United should defeat Aston Villa at Old Trafford and Chelsea should have an even easier time against Everton at Stamford Bridge. Tottenham, currently in fourth place, face Wolverhampton who are in the relegation zone so Spurs should win with relative ease.

My biggest week in a long time!

Two matches earned me 30 points each, Arsenal-Stoke I correctly predicted the goal difference and it was my bank pick so those 15 points got doubled to 30 and Aston Villa 3-0 Hull City I correctly predicted the result for 30 points. The Blackburn-Liverpool draw got me 20 points and with the Fulham-Sunderland match I correctly predicted the goal differential for 15 points. After so many draws Man City finally got a win against Chelsea but I predicted a draw, luckily it was my insurance pick so I didn’t lose any points.

It’s been a while since I broke 50 points, can I do it this week?

OK I get it Manchester City have been drawing a lot recently – so now that I predict a draw it probably won’t happen. You have been warned. Arsenal host newly promoted Stock City so the Gunners should win. Manchester United travel to play West Ham but the Red Devils should win, the Hammers are not that good this season. Manchester City host Chelsea in what I predict will be a draw. Liverpool travel a bit to face northwest rival Blackburn, I see another draw.

Not the big week I had hoped for but I’ll take it.

No prediction earned me 30 points (correct result) but three matches did earn me 20 points each (2 correct draws and Man Utd’s win over Pompey was doubled).

It’s been a number of weeks since I earned a lot of points, can I get 90 points this week?

The Merseyside Derby is this Sunday and I predict a 2-2 draw. The big match this weekend is Arsenal v Chelsea, also this Sunday. The Gunners really need a win here and I think they will get it with a 3-2 win. The Saturday match on ESPN 2 is at 10:00am ET and features Portsmouth v Manchester Utd, the Red Devils should win easily.

All the matches this round are played on Saturday and Sunday so look for my result Monday. Have a nice weekend.
